JAOPS and Dymon, two leading Japanese companies in the field of space exploration, have announced a groundbreaking collaboration for the upcoming YAOKI mission.
JAOPS will take over the operations and ground segment of the mission, which will be launched on February 27, 2025, aboard Intuitive Machines Nova-C lander.
The Yaoki mission aims to explore the lunar surface and gather valuable data that will contribute to our understanding of the Moon's environment. Dymon, known for its innovative robotic technologies, has developed the lunar rover YAOKI, which will be deployed on the Moon to conduct detailed surface imaging and scientific experiments.
JAOPS, with its extensive experience in space operations and ground control, will be responsible for managing the mission's operations from Earth. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in Japan's space exploration efforts and highlights the country's growing capabilities in the field.
"We are thrilled to partner with Dymon on this exciting mission," said Alejandro Sela, CEO of JAOPS. "Our combined expertise will ensure the success of the YAOKI mission and pave the way for future lunar exploration."
"Working with JAOPS allows us to focus on the technological aspects of the mission while ensuring seamless operations and data transmission," added Shinichiro NAKAJIMA, CEO of Dymon. "This collaboration is a testament to the innovative spirit and dedication of both our companies."
The Yaoki mission is scheduled to launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with the Nova-C lander being carried into space by SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. The mission will target the Moon's South Pole, a region of particular scientific interest.
